Using PVA to make a 2 Step Mold

Sometimes a mold is needed inside of another mold in order to "temporarily" hold something in place.  In this case pieces of metal were held in place as plastic was poured around it.

Zager 3d printing helped come up with the shapes for these pieces so that they could be printed with PVA, a substance that dissolves in water in a few hours. The parts had to fit together snuggly and at the same time be smooth and strong.

Printing PVA is a little more challenging to print with as it doesn't always stick well to the bed and also removing it from the bed can be challenging.  The parts generally need to be thicker and shorter to print out.

The final step was to put all of this into a larger Plastic 2 Part Mold.  The PVA successfully held the metal strips into place as the soft plastic was poured around it.
